about

WERL is a project of Aidan Baker (Nadja, Caudal) and Tomas Järmyr (Motorpsycho, Zu) exploring the depths of drone, noise and dark freejazz.
The album has been recorded live at MS Stubnitz in Hamburg.

Aidan Baker is a Canadian musician and writer currently based in Berlin, Germany. Classically trained in flute, he is self-taught on guitar, drums, and various other instruments.

As a solo artist, Baker explores the deconstructive sonic possibilities of the electric guitar as a primary sound source, creating music that ranges from experimental to post-rock to contemporary classical.

Baker has released numerous recordings on record labels around the world and has published several books of poetry. In addition to his solo work, he also performs in Nadja, BBS, Caudal, Adoran, Whisper Room, and ARC.

Tomas Järmyr was born 1987 in Sweden has been playing drums since the age of 2 and actively studying music since the age of 7. He moved to Norway in 2008. He has been teaching at the jazz department at NTNU in Trondheim on and off since 2011.
Currently Tomas is working on a masters degree focusing on improvised music for cymbals.
